Paul's Theology
of
Working of God
A Righteousness of Faith
Grace, God set Forth
A Law of Faith
Steps of Faith
Grace Where in We Stand
Grace did much more abound
Law of the Spirit
Workmenship of God, Created in Christ
James Wrote
Perfect Law (N.T.), the [law] of liberty
Why is it often heard
of the concept in the bible by Paul, "by the works of the law", meaning old law of Moses, particularly the defining of sins, "cometh the knowledge of sin"?
On the other hand, why is it hidden from many the concept of Paul
the following words
in the same book of Romans, particularly steps of faith?
"the righteousness of faith"
"a law of faith"
"steps of faith"
We will observe Paul
clarifies,
in Abraham's case, the father of faith,
ask concerning,
the blessing of forgiveness of sins,
how was it then counted? Paul's answer "
In the
steps
(just, right acts)
of Faith
(God's persuasion), which [he had] being [yet] uncircumcised".
Roms 4:7
[Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Roms 4:8 Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Roms 4:9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith (persuasion) was reckoned (counted) to Abraham for righteousness
(just, right, act, acts, steps).
Roms 4:10
How
was it then reckoned (counted)?
Roms 4:12 In the
steps
of Faith
(God's persuasion), which [he had] being [yet] uncircumcised.
Abraham's steps (actions, acts) of faith (persuasion),
reveals how
that faith (persuasion) has actions, which he had being yet uncircumcised. Faith is not defined by Paul in these verses as mere comprehension, as does the
Contemporary Evangelical Movement
.
Faith (persuasion) persuades to act, walk, step, steps, especially in the middle, later parts of Jesus ministry, then the transition in the Apostles ministries, concerning
"will be saved
" "forgiveness of sins", and "justified from sin".
In later centuries, sects of so called christianity, especially the
contemporary evangelical movement,
introduced wrong meanings to words, became mainstream in the cultures, created preconceived notions associated to words, even among people never read the bible. This makes it's very difficult for people to perceive biblical author's intent, spirit, when reading their words on very sensitive areas of their writings.
To better discern the author's intent, listed below are some of the most important, major words used by bible writers, following an equivalent, less religious preconceived notion associated word or words, that best describes it's true meaning as in biblical times, then following
a Strong's concordance definition and finally some commentary,
Faith =
persuasion
Strong's concordance G3982; persuasion, that is, credence; moral conviction .....
A multitasking persuasion, the comprehension Jesus is the way, son of God, persuasion in action, act, acts, steps to walk, to be saved, forgiven of sins, justified form sin and persuasion to walk in the life of Christ, keeping one from sinning
Righteousness =
just, right character, act, acts
Strong's Concordance G1342; equitable (of character or act)
Many times I notice the contemporary evangelical movement, had only assert the defined usage, right, just character and
likely due to Protestant influence of over simplifying the new testament doctrine, in the five sola doctrine, particularly the second sola
in error
teaches "being declared right by God", rather than "being made righteous by God", they have
not acknowledged, recognized the defined usage, just, right, act, acts, steps particularly of faith in Paul's writings.
In much of the articles I written, I have place in parenthesis the equivalent meanings in today's language, to better discern the authors intent, to show their more natural meaning especially 2000 years ago, trying to counteract the preconceive thinking, religious notions through the centeries that's been associated to the word. Please bear with me, and others who have less knowledge of the bible, who may need the equivalent meanings
in parenthesis
, to better discern the intent.
Working of God
John 6:28-59 28 They said therefore unto him, What must we do, that we may work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them,
This is the work of God, that ye believe on him
whom he hath sent.
Colossians 2:12 having been
buried with him in baptism,
wherein ye were also raised with him
through faith
(persuasion)
in the working of God
, who raised him from the dead.
In the bible, we begin with Jesus' words, a foundation of particular scriptural authorized works, steps of God are defined. Notice Jesus said, to believe on him (Jesus), is a work of God, and later Paul writes baptism (water immersion) through faith (God's persuasion) is a working of God. This next question , bears careful observation and your full attention.
"If belief
is called a work of God
, is not disqualified as essential for being saved, why would baptism
called a working of God
, be disqualified
as essential
for being saved
? Why is each belief and baptism, are defined a work, working but particularly of God, baptism is singled out as not acceptable that it saves, forgives sins?"
The reason is some, especially the evangelical movement have associate baptism, called a working of God by Paul, with Paul writes of another form of works, particularly works of Moses law, comes the knowledge of sin.
Law Cometh the Knowledge of Sin
Rom 3:10-20 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat [is] an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps [is] under their lips: Whose mouth [is] full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet [are] swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery [are] in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law (Moses Law) saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God: because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for through the
law cometh the knowledge of sin
. For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.
Have you ever watched TV, and a preacher speaks, saying we are not saved by the works of the law? Have you been to a large hall, or church, and the speaker says we are not saved by works? It sounds so appealing, he then says if you just believe in Jesus you will be saved. The listener, perceiving it is very simple, begins to think if I only believe (have the comprehension Jesus is the Christ). Then they are pointed to saying a sinners pray, telling them to think, I am saved. What's wrong with this picture? The problem with this picture is that it is a half truth mixed in with a falsehood. It begins with using Paul's description through the law cometh the knowledge of sin, leaving out other verses, the words of Jesus and Apostles concerning how to be saved. Particularly that faith (perseuasion) has steps, actions, works when only combined saves, forgive sins, and Paul writes justifies sins They have in error lump all actions, steps, works as the same.
Oracles
(utterance, Moses law)
of God
Rom 3:1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
Rom 3:2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the
oracles
(utterance, Moses law)
of God
.
Rom 3:3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
First lets observe carefully Paul's words, preceding verses Rom 3:10-20 concerning "the law cometh the knowledge of sin" to understand Paul's spirit. Paul had ask, what advantage of the Jew and circumcision? Much in every way.
Paul relates both, being a Jew and circumcision with being entrusted with the oracles (utterance, Moses law) of God. Then says some did not believe, shall their unbelief make the faith (persuasion) of God without effect? God forbid. Notice Paul is using the word oracles (utterances, Moses law) and faith, as if within the law is a part, had involved faith (persuasion). Note: not that circumcision meant more then a mere sign.
Rom 3:5 But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)
Rom 3:6 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?
Rom 3:7 For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?
Rom 3:8 And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.
Paul returns to his earlier theme in Roms 2:1:5 and in Roms 2:17:29 and says a third time of the man who only uses the part of the law concerning comes knowledge of sin, as if to be used to condemn (punish) others, while also doing sin, even the same sins as them. This man thinks in error, if he somehow brings glory to God, in the condemning (punishing) men in sin, that God will over look him doing sins. Paul writes, same as if it been slanderously reported, and some affirm that Paul and Christians say "let us do evil, that good may come". Paul writes whose damnation is just. Meaning Paul, totally refutes, the mind set, a man takes it upon himself to condemning, punishing others in sin, as if "let us do evil that good may come".
Rom 3:9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin.
Then Paul shows all men were at various times under sin, even them who had faith (persuasion) in God, having the oracles of God.
The truth is the law of Moses contains a specific part, that defines sin, which makes knowledge of sin. This particular part, can't make a man righteous to the point, that they are totally pleasing to God. Paul writes instead it makes known all men are sinners, for all have violated some form of the law that defined sin. Ever heard of the expression, “all I need is the ten commandments”. This is the same mental thinking, paul writing about trusting in the particular part of the law, that defines over 600 descriptions of sin in the law of Moses, that if one is a doer of them all, even though they can't, they in error think are totally pleasing to God, as if God owes them a reward. Instead God sees them as sinners, law breakers.
The false hood, is the absence of being told, Paul called the oracles (utterance, Moses law) of God, within is a part, had involved faith (persuasion) of God, contained sacrifices, are steps of faith (persuaion). Particular works of God (deferent then the works of the law making knowledge of sin), is the grace, working of God, to justify man from sin. Animal sacrifices, even though they were weak in purging them from sinning year after year, they still forgave sins, or until they were so far in sin, when without repentance the sacrifice, wouldn't even forgive their sins. When this occurred more grace (unmeritorious prevision, working of God) abounded in prophets, were sent to bring the people back to repentance, and then the sacrifice could forgive sins once again. This sinning, then without repentance, and the sending prophets, became a continue cycle. God planned an end to this cycle, in Jesus Christ, a righteousness (right character, and act, acts, steps) of faith (persuasion).
Hebrews 9:11 But Christ having come a high priest of the good things to come, through the greater and more perfect (5046 complete growth, of full age) tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, 12 nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption.
Paul describes Jesus Christ entered in the more perfect (5046 complete growth, of full age) tabernacle, made without hands, nor by the blood of goats and bulls but by his own blood, Christ entered once for all into the holy place, having obtain eternal redemption.
Hebrews 9:13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify unto the cleanness of the flesh:
Leviticus 4:20:And the priest shall make an atonement for them, and it shall be
forgiven them
.
Leviticus 4:26: And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be
forgiven him
.
Leviticus 4:31: And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour unto the LORD; and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and it shall be f
orgiven him
.
Leviticus 4:35: And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD: and the priest shall make an atonement for his sin that he hath committed, and it shall be
forgiven him
.
Leviticus 5:10: And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be
forgiven him
.
Leviticus 5:16: And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be
forgiven him
.
Leviticus 5:18: And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not, and it shall be
forgiven him
.
Leviticus 6: 7:And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the Lord: and it shall be
forgiven him
.
Leviticus 17:11 11:I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the
blood that maketh an atonement for the soul
.
Numbers 15: 27:And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering. 28:And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before the LORD, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be
forgiven him
.
Hebrews 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish unto God, cleanse your conscience (awareness) from dead works (sins) to serve the living God?
Paul compares how the blood of goats and bulls, and ashes of a heifer sprinkling them on the defiled, sanctify (purified) unto the cleanness of the flesh (sinful nature), how much more the blood of Christ, cleanse your conscious (awareness) from dead works (sins) to serve a living God?
Heb 10:1-4 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect (5048 complete, finish from sinning). For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience (awareness) of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins (as to take away sins permanently, sins returned year after year).
A righteousness of faith (God's persuasion)
Romans 3:21 But now apart from the law,
a righteousness
(right character, and act, acts, steps) of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 even
the
righteousness
(right character and act, acts, steps)
of God through faith
(God's persuasion) in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;
Righteousness = Strong's Concordance G1342; equity (of character or act)
Grace, God set forth (God's working began)
Rom 3:24-26 Being justified freely by his
grace
(unmeritorious provisions) through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 whom
God set forth
(began, God first loved us) to be an propitiation (appeasement) through faith (persuasion), in his
blood to declare
(proclaim) his righteousness (just, right of character, acts) for the remission (toleration, passing over) of sins that are past, in the forbearance of God Rom 3:26
to declare
(proclaim) at this time his righteousness (equity (just, right, character, acts) that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Paul writes about being Justified freely by his Grace (unmeritorious provisions of righteousness, steps) particularly when God set forth, his working began, first loved, by Christ innocent shed Blood. Looking carefully at these verses, will show God first loved, working in men while in sin. Notice the
blood twice declares
.
declare
his righteousness (just, right character, act of his sacrifice) for the remission of sins that are past, in the forbearance of God
The word "remission" used here is Strong’s Concordance #3929 means toleration, passing over, letting pass, disregarding.
Note: In the N.T. where the word "remission" is used in other places of the KJV, is a different meaning Strong’s Concordance #859 means pardon, deliverance, forgiveness.
Ever heard the expression if it bleeds it leads in news, blood shed (especially innocent) has power, to declares, to proclaim a message of persuasion. God loves, works (grace) by way of his son's Jesus' shed blood declares, proclaims righteousness. When anyone in the world hears for the first time of Christ died on the cross for their sins, God has first loved, shows toleration, passing over, letting pass of their pass sins, justified to the extent of toleration (but not forgiven, as yet in sin) in the forbearance of God, to receive the message of hope. For we all deserve death, to even hear from God in this way means toleration, a state of forbearance.
declare
at this time his righteousness (just character and right act, acts, steps, unmeritorious works), that he is just, justifier of him which believeth in Jesus, forgives our sins, saves:
Paul is writing to romans who had walked already in particular just acts, steps of God (deferent then the works of the law making knowledge of sin), is the grace, working of God, to justify man from sin. Shown in the book of acts, beginning at the establishment of the church on Pentecost and following conversions we find the following steps.
Step of faith (God's persuasion) 1: believe Jesus is the Christ
Step of faith (God's persuasion) 2: confess Jesus is the Christ
Step of faith (God's persuasion) 3: repent (turn from sin)
(still in toleration, in the forbearance of God, not forgiven, as yet in sin)
Step of faith (God's persuasion) 4: Pentecost, Acts 3:38, baptized (immersion, water) for forgiveness of sins.
Romans 6: 3-7 3 Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4
We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death
: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. 5
For if we have become united with [him] in the likeness of his death
, we shall be also [in the likeness] of his resurrection; 6
knowing this, that our old man was crucified (shed of innocent blood) with [him],
that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin; 7 for he that hath died
is justified
from sin.
ASV
Is Justified
from sin, forgiven, saved!!!!!!
Grace =
unmerited provisions
(
past, present, future working of God in man according to
purpose, plan
)
From G5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): - acceptable, benefit, favor, gift, grace (-ious), joy liberality, pleasure, thank (-s, -worthy).
I have often heard by the contemporary evangelical movement, define grace as unmerited favor. A more accurate definition of the word grace, through study especially the author intent, spirit, I find are
"unmeritorious provisions"
past, present, future working of God in man,
as given to man on a journey, of the purpose and pleasure of God
.
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God (it can read from the greek "loved God" as in God loved, the words "to them" before and after "loved God" are not in the greek), to them who are the called according to his
purpose
.
Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Rom 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the
purpose of God according to election
might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
Rom 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Rom 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth (free will), nor of him that runneth (effort), but of God that sheweth
mercy
.
Rom 9:18 Therefore hath he
mercy
on whom he will have
mercy
, and whom he will he hardeneth.
Php 2:13 for it is
God who worketh in you both to will and to work
, for his good
pleasure
.
1Jn 4:19 We love him, because
he first loved us
.
Not due to favor, who they are, or what they done, but solely according to purpose and the pleasure of God. God's purpose, rather then favor, and God's mercy, rather then worthiness. Purpose equates a plan, not base on either merit, free will, desire, but to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Note:The American Standard Version Bible, and the King James Version Bible have at times placed the word "favor" in place of the word "grace" in the Old testament and New testament. Where it says a man has found favor in God's eyes, it should read man has found grace (unmeritorious provisions) in God's eyes. Meaning the man has as if stumbled, found God unmerited provisions, purpose, plan, past, present, future working of God in himself, not because who his is, what he done, merit, free will or desire but soley due to God's purpose and pleasure, the plan of God, in mercy. Other versions of the bible have placed the correct word grace, in the verses.
A Law of Faith
Romans 3:27 Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works (Moses law)? Nay: but by
a law
(just, right acts)
of faith
(God's persuasion). 28 We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith (persuasion) apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God [the God] of Jews only? is he not [the God] of Gentiles also? Yea, of Gentiles also: 30 if so be that God is one, and he shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith. 31 Do we then make the law (just, right acts) of none effect through faith (God's persuasion)? God forbid: nay, we establish the law (just, right acts, steps of, by, through faith).
Note: James uses the terminology law: James 1:25 But he that looketh into the
perfect
(5046 complete growth, of full age)
law
(just, right acts) (N.T.),
the [law] of liberty
, and [so] continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.
Paul shows there is no glorying, boasting in oneself, by the law (just, right acts, steps) of faith (persuasion). Paul counts man is justified by faith (persuasion not merely comprehension Jesus is the son of God, also included is the persuasion from Jesus and his Apostle,
to walk
in the act, acts, steps to justify man from sin). Paul shows both the Jew and Gentile will be justified by, through faith (persuasion). Then Paul ask do we make void the law (just, right act, acts, steps) through faith (persuasion)? Paul answers, God forbid: nay, we establish the law (just, right acts, steps of, by, through faith).
Steps of Faith
Rom 4:1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, hath found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works (his own devised steps of righteousness or of the law of Moses which came 400 years later, neither from faith), he hath whereof to glory; but not toward God. 3 For what saith the scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh, the reward is not reckoned as of grace (unmeritorious provisions of righteousness, steps), but as of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not (his own devised steps of righteousness or the law of Moses), but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
7
[Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven,
and whose sins are covered. 8
Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin
. Roms 4:9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith (persuasion) was reckoned (counted) to Abraham for righteousness (just, right acts, steps).
Rom 4:10 How was it then reckoned (counted)?
Roms 4:12 In the
*steps
(just, right acts)
of Faith
(God's persuasion), which [he had] being [yet] uncircumcised.
Rom 4:13 For not through the law was the promise to Abraham or to his seed that he should be heir of the world, but through the
righteousness
(just, right act, acts, steps) of
faith
(persuasion).
Paul explains Abraham 430 years before Moses law, as the father of faith, shows us an example concerning the law (right, just acts, steps) of faith (persuasion), how Abraham believed, that he didn't trust in the works of the his flesh pertaining as if he could please God by some form of law that he imagined how to treat his fellow neighbor. Paul ask how was the righteousness reckon to Abraham? Paul writes, in steps (right, just acts) of faith (persuasion) while yet uncircumcised.
Hebrews 11:8
By faith
(persuasion)
Abraham, when he was called, obeyed
to go out unto a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Gen 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
In the old testament we see Abraham the father of Faith, through steps of faith, God justified him. Abraham at age 75 was quickened to walk in steps (unmeritorious provisions of righteousness) of faith (God's persuasion, believed):
Gen: 12:4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram [was] seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Gen 13:14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: 15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. 16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, [then] shall thy seed also be numbered. 17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee. Gen 18 Then Abram removed [his] tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which [is] in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
Abraham continued walk in steps (unmeritorious provisions of righteousness) of faith (God's persuasion, believed), God says again:
Gen 15:5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. Gen 6 And
he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness
. 7 And he said unto him, I [am] the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
Abraham walked (after many years) in steps (unmeritorious provisions of righteousness) of faith (God's persuasion, believed) God speaks to him again, but this time, God chooses a moment after many years, reckons, counts him righteous:
Grace Where in We Stand (unmeritorious provisions righteousness, steps)
Rom 5:1 Being therefore justified by faith (God's persuasion), we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; 2 through whom also we have had our access by faith (God's persuasion) into this
grace
(unmeritorious provisions of righteousness)
where in we stand
; and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Paul's readers Romans who already stand in this Grace (unmeritorious provisions righteousness, steps, working of God), they had walked in steps of faith (persuasion), being they believed Jesus is the Christ, confess his name, repented, and were buried with Christ in baptism, united in christ death (crucified, buried), in Christ body, justified from sins, through faith (God's persuasion) of the working (righteousness, step, unmeritorious provisions) of God.
Romans 5:5 and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.
Romans 5:6 For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: for peradventure for the good man some one would even dare to die.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Paul summarizes again how God first set forth in Christ shed blood, God shed his love abroad in their hearts, through the holy spirit (undefiled mental disposition), God send forth (proclaim, declared) his love toward them while yet sinners, when Christ died (shed blood) for them. The blood 's message of love had quicken them to believe, confess, repent and be baptized (water immersed) in Christ for forgiveness of sins, is justified from sin Roms 6:7 ASV, through faith the working of God (grace).
Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Paul exhorts to these Romans now since they are justified from the blood, through his death, they are to be saved by his life (principles of Christ teachings of daily living) will save them. Even so they may rejoice they received the atonement.
Grace did much more abound
Romans 5:20: Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded,
grace
(unmeritorious provision, working of God)
did much more abound
: 21: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace (
unmerited provisions
) reign through righteousness (right, just character, right, just act, acts, steps) unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Paul now writes further about grace (working of God) did much more abound, that grace (working of God) reign through righteousness (just character, and act, acts, steps) by Jesus Christ. Paul questions shall they continue in sin, that grace (working of God) will abound even more, God forbid.
Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin,
that grace
(unmeritorious provision, working of God)
may abound?
2 God forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein?
3
Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
5
For if we have become united with [him] in the likeness of his death
, we shall be also [in the likeness] of his resurrection; 6
knowing this, that our old man was crucified with [him]
, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin; 7
for he that hath died is justified
from sin
.
Paul takes them back to their baptism to show they died with Jesus as a likeness to being buried with him in his tomb, in baptism (water immersion). In this likeness they were untied in his crucified body. Paul writes some of the most important words one can be assured in, he that hath died "
is justified
from sin
".
The King James version Bible, in Rom 6:7 have used the word "freed', however the the Strong's concordance number is #1344:
Strongs Concordance #1344 (show or regard) just or innocent, justify, be righteous.
37 times #1344 is used in the NT it's render just (show or regard) just or innocent, justify, be righteous.
KJV Roms 6:7 they rendered it as freed (mistranslating the word). Not that KJV is a bad version, its an excellent translation, except for a very few places they ventured into perhaps interpreting, instead of simply translating as in other versions
American Standard Version, Rom 6:7 For he that hath died is justified from sin.
Darby's english translation, Roms 6:7 For he that has died is justified from sin.
Douay Rheims, Roms 6:7 For he that is dead is justified from sin.
Greek interlinear by Alfred Marshall, also has the word justified, the word Paul did pen.
Everyone should be knowledgeable of this particular mistranslation in the KJV, because its very assuring to know the word Paul by the Holy Spirit did penned justified. Paul wanted everyone to know when exactly one is justified from sin, at the moment of their immersion (water). If you have been justified from sin, you can conclude as a result, Paul further writes expectations, exhortations you are to be freed from sin. However to remove Paul's penned word justified, and place the word "freed" would be extremely down playing, denying Paul's use of the word justified, and as many have done denying the justification from sin, which happens at the moment of immersion.
Paul could of used the word "freed" if that was all he intended, instead he used the particular word justified. To give men assurance of how God's grace (an unmeritorious provision of righteousness) abound exceedingly, reign through righteousness (right acts, steps), all we who were immersed into death, hath died, is justified from sin. No other grace will abound if they continued to sin. This grace (unmerited provision of righteousness) in the form of water immersion, justified them from sin and suppose to result, in not sinning anymore.
8 But if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him; 9 knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death no more hath dominion over him.
10 For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11
Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin,
but alive unto God in Christ Jesus
.
Paul goes on to say more very important words when men can count themselves "in Christ". "Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin,
but alive unto God in Christ Jesus
".
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Rom 6:18
Being then made free from sin
, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Rom 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Rom 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Rom 6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Rom 6:22 But now
being made free from sin
, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Why does Paul write Roms 6? To show the justifying effect in water baptism, and to show that we are not to continue sinning, but as Paul writes "being made free of sin".
Romans 7:1 Or are ye ignorant, brethren (for I speak to men who know the law), that the law hath dominion over a man for so long time as he liveth? 2 For the woman that hath a husband is bound by law to the husband while he liveth; but if the husband die, she is discharged from the law of the husband. 3 So then if, while the husband liveth, she be joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if the husband die, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she be joined to another man. 4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ; that ye should be joined to another, [even] to him who was raised from the dead, that we might bring forth fruit unto God.
Paul after Romans 6, says in Romans 7 being once bound to the old husband of the old law of sins held against you, made dead through the law through Christ body (from Romans 6 one dies with Christ in his burial in baptism), that ye should be joined (married) to another (new husband, Christ).
The old testament sacrifices was a shadow of what was to come, of an exceeding abundant of grace (unmeritorious provision, working of God) in a perfect sacrifice, Jesus Christ and his teachings, commands, through the apostles, particularly that gives you this free gift. These commands, from Jesus, then in his Apostles are similar as there were steps (just, right acts) of faith (persuasion) in Abraham, which [he had] being [yet] uncircumcised, or in the law of Moses steps, repentance, sacrifice for their sins, through faith, and there are steps (just, right, acts) of faith (persuasion) in the new testament, under the new covenant, defined to have your past sins forgiven, as Paul writes later "is justified from sin".
The steps, works of God, working of God, begins with first belief that Jesus is the Christ, then repentance, confessing Jesus is the Christ and finally as Paul writes, entering into baptism (water immersion) in the name of Christ. The water immersion is the tomb of Christ, entering in Christ Jesus’ crucified (blood shed for your sins) body (you have contact, better yet you are in his body) in the tomb of Christ, when coming up out of the water, one is seen by God, as if resurrection in Christ body, in newness of Life in the new covenant, is justified from sin, forgiven. There are three more analogies referring to the water immersion, in the new testament, describing how to perceived baptism, as a new birth, a washing away sins, and Paul after Romans 6, says in Romans 7 being once bound to the old husband of the old law of sins held against you, made dead through the law through Christ body (from Romans 6 one dies with Christ in his burial in baptism), that ye should be joined (married) to another (new husband, Christ).
Law of the Spirit
Jesus' words: John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Roms 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the
law of the Spirit
(mental disposition) of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death (Moses Law).
Apostle Paul's words: 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit (Jesus, Peter, Paul, John all had the one spirit, the word of Jesus Christ, quickeneth) we were all baptized (water) into Christ body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit (word of Christ).
Workmenship of God, created in Christ

his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ.
Perfect Law (N.T.), the [law] of liberty
James 1:25 But he that looketh into the
perfect
(5046 complete growth, of full age)
law
(just, right acts) (N.T.),
the [law] of liberty
, and [so] continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.
2 peter 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
Therefore, if someone comes to you and says baptism is a work of man, and your not saved by works. How would you respond?
John 6:28-29 28 They said therefore unto him, What must we do, that we may work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is
the work of God, that ye believe on him
whom he hath sent.
Colossians 2:12 having been
buried with him in baptism, wherein ye were also raised with him through faith in the working of God
, who raised him from the dead.
Answer: Jesus said in
John 6:28-29
,
"the work of God, that ye believe on him
",
Paul wrote, "buried in
baptized (water immersion), wherein ye were also raised with him through faith in the working of God". Paul in Roms 6, tells men in his discourse on baptism (water immersion):
"we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death",
"he that hath died, is justified from sin"
"count yourself alive to God in Christ"
